Good Food is Good Mood

hopecollectiveco

I'd hate to admit how much I love food, but "Good Food" really is "Good Mood". I'm a foodie. I love to eat and I love to cook. I dream about the meals (yes I said meals) that will be served at my wedding, and how that food will make my guests feel and what they'll think. I want them to feel satisfied, full and happy with the meal they experienced on my day. But how can you be sure the meal will be great on your wedding day? Take part in a wedding tasting with your caterer! This is a great way to taste different options, and build a relationship with your vendor.

A tasting isn't just about the food, but about assessing the caterer's professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness to work with you to create a memorable dining experience. Here's some tips to make the most of your wedding tasting!

  1. Plan Ahead: Schedule the tasting well in advance to ensure the caterer's availability. This will also give you ample time to prepare questions and preferences.

  2. Bring Key Decision Makers: If possible, have both you and your partner attend the tasting. It's important that you both agree on the menu choices. Your Wedding Planner can also attend to help with the process.

  3. Be Clear About Your Preferences: Communicate your dietary restrictions, preferred flavors, and any specific dishes you have in mind. This helps the caterer tailor the tasting to your preferences.

  4. Sample Variety: Try a diverse range of dishes to get a better sense of the caterer's capabilities. Taste different appetizers, main courses, and desserts.

  5. Ask About Customization: Inquire if the menu can be customized to suit your preferences and theme. This could include adjustments for cultural or dietary requirements.

  6. Pay Attention to Presentation: The way the dishes are presented matters. Note the attention to detail, garnishes, and overall visual appeal.

  7. Portion Sizes: Check the portion sizes to ensure they're appropriate for a wedding setting. You want guests to be satisfied without excessive wastage.

  8. Feedback: Provide honest feedback to the caterer. If something isn't to your liking, express your concerns constructively so they can make adjustments.

  9. Ask About Logistics: Discuss how the food will be served, plated, and kept warm. Understand the caterer's process for ensuring food quality on the wedding day.

  10. Ask About Extra Costs: Inquire about any additional charges such as service fees, gratuities, and rentals. Make sure you have a clear understanding of the overall cost.

  11. Take Notes and Photos: Document your tasting experience with notes and photos. This will be helpful when making final decisions and communicating with the caterer later.

  12. Trust Your Palate: Ultimately, go with dishes that you and your partner enjoy the most. It's your special day, and the food should reflect your tastes.

Ultimately, a successful wedding tasting helps couples finalize their wedding menu, gain confidence in their menu choices, and ensure that the catering aspect of their wedding celebration is as enjoyable and memorable as possible. Connect with your Wedding Planner to recommend caterers, and to help schedule your tastings.

Happy planning!
